So, I’m joining the greatest and shiniest group of individuals known to man -
The United States Navy.
And this is exciting. I don’t know what job I’ll have yet. All I know is that I’m going to become part of something huge.
“But Kenny!” you say, knowing me. “You’re a peacifist!”
True. Or something. Legally I can’t be at this point, but yes. I try to actively evade harming others.
The Navy represents unlimited career opportunities. My plan is enlisting as an E-3 Seaman, going to college, earning a Bachelor’s, and becoming an Ensign (O-1). Officers get a bundle of money, naturally, and responsibility.
But this kind of an odd thing. I’m enlisting because it pays for my education, and I’m getting an education because I want to be an Officer. So I’m enlisting just to be an officer? Well, kinda. There really are unlimited opportunities, and if I hate it, I don’t continue doing it.
This is me opening the oyster.
But it’s still a bit… shaky, I guess. I’m not sure if I’ve wrapped my head around it.
Responsibility, physical strength, other skills - these are awesome things I hope to learn via enlisting. So there’s that, too.
I guess this was really just written for my own benefit, but you knew that. Everything I write is.
